E BIRDING TOURS IN COLOMBIA BY COLOMBIA BIRDWATCH

BIRDING ADVENTURES TV COLOMBIA BIRDWATCH EPISODE

The Colombia Birdwatch crew guided James Currie and the Birding Adventures TV crew for three days in the western Andes and Cauca Valley in southwestern Colombia. We had a great time, found some impressive birds and got footage for this episode which airs on NBC sports.

THE ANCHICAYA VALLEY AND SAN CIPRIANO RESERVE

On this episode of Brazilian TV show Terra de Gente, the crew does some exploring from the crest of the western Andes all the way down to the Pacific Ocean, along the Anchicaya River. The Anchicaya watershed offers some of the world's most amazing birding, covering an altitudinal gradient that is sure to produce and satiate your ornithological cravings. Using the city of Cali as our home base, we explored remote areas of Colombia that are opening up to bird tourism after the recent signing of a peace deal. A highlight of the trip was riding the "brujitas" in San Cipriano, in the Pacific lowlands. "Brujitas" are motorcycle-powered wooden carts that locals have devised to transport people and supplies into and out of the village on the existing railroad.

SALSA DANCING – KM 18 – ANDEAN COCK-OF-THE-ROCK RESERVE

On this episode of Brazilian TV show Terra de Gente, the crew does some salsa dancing in the vibrant city of Cali followed by a visit to an active Andean Cock-of-the-rock lek near town. Then they put a cherry on the top by visiting the spectacular hummingbird and tanager feeders at KM 18.

LOS NEVADOS NATIONAL PARK AND THE RIO BLANCO RESERVE

Terra de Gente is a popular Brazilian nature show, and producers decided to celebrate their 20th anniversary in Colombia in 2017. We spent 11 days in the western Andes and Pacific coast, the Cauca Valley and coffee-growing region and high altitude Paramo ecosystems of the central Andes. This segment highlights the Antpitta feeding stations at the Rio Blanco Reserve and the highly unique paramo ecosystems of Los Nevados National Park.
